MFA - Multi Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method in which a user is granted access only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence to prove their identity.

As you may know, Western is implementing the mandatory use of Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) for all Office 365 accounts by end of June 2021.   The MFA for Office 365 implementation follows the engagement of Modern Authentication for accessing the mail store (including other applications within the MS suite, such as Calendar, Contacts, etc.), which was enforced on February 2nd. Modern Authentication enforcement was a necessary first step to allow us to move forward.

STS is encouraging our constituents to take the time to opt-in to MFA well ahead of the June 30 deadline.  By signing up ahead of time you get to choose a time that suits your schedule, and you also avoid having to "fight the crowds" if you should need assistance from STS or WTS to complete your opt-in.
